Hi,

Kevin Marks, one of the Technorati key developers, has mentioned in his weblog that he has left Technorati and now works for Google.

Google blog search engine has been working so good and smoothly like the other Google services. If it starts showing problems, it can be related to its new employee  Grin

Just kidding! Google is stronger than this.

It sends some traffic to my sites.

The cool about the blog search is that an article is getting indexed really fast.

We get about 2% of our Blog traffic from Technorati but when we actively use Technorati tags we actually saw no traffic at all!

You just need rel="category tag" links for tags in your blog and <category> tags in your feeds, and technorati will index your content correctly.

do I need a tag cloud for this? where can I find more information about this?

You just need rel="category tag" links for tags in your blog and <category> tags in your feeds, and technorati will index your content correctly.
Quick explanation most blogging software will allow you to tag posts, these normally are done
Code:
<a href="http://myexample.com/tag/mytag/" title="View all posts in mytag" rel="category tag">mytag</a>
This will be picked up by most search engines and blog engines.
Technorati also suggest using specific tags for its engine so in addition to the above Technorati suggest you add
Code:
<a href="http://www.technorati.com/tag/mytag" rel="tag">mytag</a>
However using technorati links in your post doesn't at least in our case result in any increase traffic, indeed we saw a drop in traffic when we also added Technorati tags. So we just use our own category tags using rel= category tag attribute

To see this in action look at this post http://ventureskills.wordpress.com/2007/03/03/drupal-5-or-47/ Visit through proxy
the tags are at the bottom of the page Smiley

If you have a weblog, you should have received few clicks per week through http://blogsearch.google.com Visit through proxy. Just track your website traffic and you will see. I agree that it will not send reasonable traffic to your weblog.

Technorati is like that too. So I think this new Google employee will not have any advantages for us as he didn't have when he was in Technorati.
