Its late, and Im probably missing the obvious but I'm having real trouble with my positioning (see screenshot) the young lady should be in the right hand top corner, but she stubbornly refuses to go either on her own, or as a floating div.

My current code looks like
Code:
<body>
<div id="wrapper">
    <div id="headerInner">
        <?php if ($logo) { ?>
<a href="<?php print $base_path ?>" title="<?php print t('Home'?>"><img src="<?php print $logo ?>" alt="<?php print t('Home'?>" id="logo" /></a>
<img src="themes/amadou/img/bg_woman.jpg" id="back" />
<?php ?>
   </div>
  <!-- main -->
ignore the php its just a template file, obviously there is more after this, and the wrapper div closes at the bottom.

The CSS
Code:
/*-----header-----*/

#wrapper {
position:relative;
  width:800;
  text-align: left;
  margin: 0 auto;
  position:relative;
  padding: 0;
  top: 0;
  left: 0
}

#headerInner {
position:relative;
  top:0;

}
#headerInner #logo img {
position:absolute;
  left:0;
  border: 0;
}

#headerInner #back img {
position:absolute;
right:0;
top:0;
}
Now I have swapped from absolute to relative and used float left right, nothing budges the women from her current position.

any suggestions?

It was really simple in the end, just added two divs, left and right and used float, with width.

now why this didn't work two hours ago I don't know Wink

So it works now?

A small tip : Add the web developer extension in Firefox, and when you are changing CSS files go to Disable -> Cache

I guess that is the reason it didn't work before Wink

it wasn't the cache that was the issue, it was my own stupidity Smiley

yes its working fine, and web developer extension is installed, along with firebug Visit through proxy which is my main debugging tool.

Strange I have never this kind of problems with the cache, only if I test websites with flash elements...

I have in the past but this was not the issue here, I simply hadn't closed my div tags correctly before (a look at the CVS entries this morning confirmed it). Put it down to tiredness the site is taking shape nicely. I guess its a good sign when the boss has to do the redesign of the main web site because every one is busy?

I hate IE This isn't some mild dislike this is pure loathing, my nice new design, looking very pretty in Firefox, opera, safari even, but IE nope!!!!

Whats worse IE 7 appears to be even less standards compatible then IE 6, at least when it comes to CSS. I hate Internet explorer, Bill Gates as your final thing as CEO has to be to sack your entire browser team, wholesale Sack them, include Firefox as a windows update, you can make it look like IE 7 I don't mind, and then we wouldn't have little problems like these!

Did I mention how much I hate IE...

I got my text wrapping around the image correctly in the end Wink just needed to rant. I think what I'm more peeved at is the fact I have had to drop from xhtml strict down to transitional.
