Olaf its been a few days did your bandwidth go down now that you switched to php proxy?
I'm sure that phproxy eats less bandwidth! I can't compare this since I block people now from countries other then US, UK, CA, DE, IT, NL

How much bandwidth are you saving now that you blocked those other countries?

You can save tons of bandwidth as most of the arabic countries are using proxies to download p0rn videos, etc. Wink

How do you block those countries? Do you do it at the firewall or some other way?

Again you can do this with various ways.

The best - but most resource wasting - is using maxmind's ip location Visit through proxy database (there is a free version too)

Grin ok, I just bought a VPS so I can throw up a website and get a google adsense account. (wish me luck, they turned me down before). After that I want to make a proxy website and see how much money I can make and then move into a dedicated server. So far I think its cheaper to get a dedicated server than to colocate one. I am waiting to hear back from a colo provider. If they will give me a good deal I am going to just build a server.

Ok here is what I got so far

Server
AMD Athlon 4800+ X2
2GB of ram
x2 160GB SATA 3.0 Raid hard drives

I have colocation lined up 1000GB per month for $50. And I am doing DNS through www.dnsmadeeasy.com Visit through proxy. I get 10 million queries a month, I hope thats enough for a proxy website server. Do you think there may be something else I may need?

Also I am unsure how to put adsese in php can anyone tell me how to do it? All of the parts should be here friday and the server should be online the following week. I am going to give it a 2 day burn in to make sure I have no problems.

I noticed some one is using my proxy website even though I didnt advertise it anywhere. All though the traffic is very small its in the mb lol.

don't so much (2-3) the kids are free from school soon, put them all on one IP address and change this after the summer if the traffic is low.

register domains like like domain1.com and domain1.org etc.

this way you can use the same domain for the same theme as addon domain

Anyone know how to make Mod_evasive work with a proxy website? Every time I enable it and use my proxy website it bans me from my server.

Anyone know how to make Mod_evasive work with a proxy website? Every time I enable it and use my proxy website it bans me from my server.

check this info (you need to change some settings):

DOSHashTableSize
Size of the hash table. The greater this setting, the more memory is required for the look up table, but also the faster the look ups are processed. This option will automatically round up to the nearest prime number.

DOSPageCount
Number of requests for the same page within the 'DOSPageInterval' interval that will get an IP address added to the blocking list.

DOSSiteCount
Same as 'DOSPageCount', but corresponds to the number of requests for a given site, and uses the 'DOSSiteInterval' interval.

DOSPageInterval
Interval for the 'DOSPageCount' threshold in second intervals.

DOSSiteInterval
Interval for the 'DOSSiteCount' threshold in second intervals.

DOSBlockingPeriod
Blocking period in seconds if any of the thresholds are met. The user will recieve a 403 (Forbidden) when blocked, and the timer will be reset each time the site gets hit when the user is still blocked.

Cry well, I was on a proxy webmaster forum and someone caught one of their users viewing child porn. I dont think I could sleep at night thinking about is some one viewing child porn on my proxy website. I am going to have to stay away from proxy websites and find another way to make money off of the internet (other types of websites) Thanks for all of your advice, but I am going to stay far away from these types of websites.
