Bellow is the best designs that I choose as a first pick. This is mostly a post to help decide (having all of them in one place)

Later I will have to decide one from them - which looks extremely difficult - so please give some help.....

I would love to hear opinions on those logos Smiley

maybe by "help" nikolas ment some arguments ? why u chose that one, etc... it's easy to pick one and not knowing why... sometimes it's not enough to "like something", you need to consider if that thing fits the idea and how will it look/affect the project/site in the future...

i guess, it would really help him if you guys sustain your decision with some arguments Cheesy that way nikolas can see/understand your point of view and he'll understand why you think that the logo you have chosen is the best solution.

Good Luck,
Biro

Thanks spence.

I just want to say few more things regarding the logos in general ( it might help Nikolas ). The main idea in all logos is that it should be efficient... meaning that it should look good on almost any layout and any background... to be honest, 80% of the logos posted here have/will have background problems ( including mine, but it could be solved by changing the outline colors, etc ). I really love some of the logos, the one that caught me was designers logo ( the 4th logo in Nikolas' selection ). I really like the feeling of that logo and it looks great, but imho it looks SUPER only on white background... i'm sure that some of you who have some basic color theory knowledge understand why, but for the few who don't have, let me explain ( and this problem accures with the other logos too ). Just try to imagine the same logo with the same effects/colors on a black background or a dark background or even on a orange background... it will look just horrible... at the moment the white background Focuses/brings out the logo more, but if you'll consider of changing it, then it will just "swallow" all the logo and it would fall out of focus. Sadly this problem can't be solved with changing the logos colors, and this is caused because of the white spaces between the shapes... the only solution ( imho the best solution for this case ) would be adding a white stroke to the logo... that way not mattering on what color the background is it will look good ( same things for it's text - that logo was designed for white background i can hardly imagine it looking as cool as now on other background ). Same problem with the other logos...regarding the one olaf picked: yeah, the logo looks nice, but did you ever imagine it on a darker background or maybe on a site ? imho it's just not the logo that would be as dynamic as needed... ( it's not cool putting shapes into boxes because , well they look good IN the box but bad OUTSIDE the box - imho it looks more like a huge button then a logo - no offence, it's just my opinion, i could be wrong )...

on the other side, i like dynamix logos too because he tried to focus on the same thing as i did. i know that all of you like the "web 2.0 idea" but, web 2.0 doesn't mean 3D logos or beveled logos. Dynamix's logo is a good example of a decent dynamic logo... because it's simple and by changing the color variations it will look great on almost any background ( and it will be quite easy to pick the right colors for it if you have just a bit of "art" in you ). My logo is more difficult... although it's based on the same idea as Dynamix's logo it will be ( maybe ) a bit harder to find the good color combo for different backgrounds... to make it look on almost any background you'll need a bit of experience in colors just to get them right ( it has more ellements/shades/shadows/etc.. and that makes it harder to edit, but not impossible ).

considering all these i guess some of the logos drop from the list ( in my opinion i mean... but don't forget that it's only one's opinion ). i'm not saying they are not cool, THEY ARE, i'm just saying that on a non-white background they won't look as good ( i'd suggest looking at Designers logos... look how Cool and awsome the logo on the white background is and how humble and faded it seems on the green background, it kinda looses it's glamourness/spiciness/coolness )...

So, considering the things i stated above i'd say that dynamix's logo would be the best solution if you are not too talented with using colors and it fits well almost any layout, and my logo if you like the more complex logos, although that means more effort to make it look good on different background colors ( color swatches ) - i'm sure that Nikolas doesn't want to get a new logo whenever he decides to update his site or maybe change the layout ( a static logo that looks good only on a specific background can hardly be called a logo ).

I hope this helped, i tried to be as constructive as i can be with my comments and i tried to stay as neutral to this "vote" as i could ( considering that i have some logos there too and it would be stupid saying "yeah, i'm the best, vote for me..." - just non-sense ).

Wish you luck Nikolas,
Biro

PS: and yeah, don't forget that Romania has no Pay-Pall coverage so it would cause only more headaches if i'd win... bank transfer and all that crap.... so, go dynamix, go go go ! Wink

Biro thank you very much for this post, it really helped me a lot.

I am close to pick one from the logos, but I will wait a little more if someone has to add some comments Smiley

I would have kept mum... but since a background concern arises... heres 2... what do you want me to try next?... Oh and yeah it will look good in gray scale, even in monochrome... thats how a logo should be, it should work in any media, any size, printed, carved, etc... anyways:

Nice try designer, it doesn't look bad... but i still feel that the white bg is the best... the green is bad and the black ruins the text and doesn't brings out the logo too much... but heh, it's just my opinion( some may like it, others don't... it's subjectiv i guess... i still like the white bg, these don't look that good )... i'm not the one who'll decide who wins so who cares what i'm saying...

PS: and sorry for being a "smart-ass" and picking on everyone but i'm just trying to help Nik.

Good luck,
Biro

I love the black logo. Its really professional. But, the selected ADs look like they've been borrowed from Template Monster. They don't unique. I mean, if the site is gum stats, the logo should have something related to "gum". Thats my first remark. I tried a lot to get the "gum" in there. But, I guess mine isn't good enough. So, I guess the one with "designed by demonhole" is great. Its the closest unique-looking.

The best for me and I think the most professional is that :

with a little more work at the right site of the image Smiley
I mean the blue green red graphic...I would prefer it more clear.

Logo 1: Chart going down isn't what any webmaster wants to see. If chosen, have designer flip the chart to be positive.

Logo 2: Crisp and clean, but kinda boring. Sorry.

Logo 3: Nice and colorful, would give you alot to work with when building the website. Not sure if it says bar graph or city buildings though.

Logo 4: I liked this one when I first saw it, but I'm not sure what the tie in is with the leaves behind the name.

Logo 5: Bar graph looks kinda like an E on it's side.

Last ones: Kinda leaning towards this one. It's different and new. Still not entirely getting the leaves, but of all of them I like this one the best. This one would be tricky for tagline placement, but maybe it's not really needed?

maverick, olaf; I'm sorry I've to argue with you. Please see this as a friendly recommendation. No hard feelings !! Well, I can't see the presence of "gum" in any of the above. As I've told, they look like they are taken from "Template Monster" or some stock picture or something. Its pro but I think we need more of "unique" than "pro".

Gumstats is gonna compete with leaders as Google Analytics, Statcounter etc. So, why don't go for something uniqer ? Just a suggestion. And, I won't recommend any logo specifically because that may make the authors feel bad.

*I know how they'll feel. I've felt it myself*

don't worry, its just my own opinion... and I never think so much about why I like a design...
for example, check the logo of finalwebsites.com, of course I have an idea what is the meaning of the name and which attributes will translate something to the visitor. I discussed this item with the designer of my site and I like his opinion much more than any translation of business ideas...
