the path to wisdom begins with humble ignorance

Wink Hi everyone in case it isn't already painfully obvious I'm a new kid on the block. This forum seems like a nice place to get help and heaven knows I could use some of that. I would also of course be willing to help anyone in anyway I can. I've realized that HELP is the best way to learn on both sides of the coin.

So as we say in Jamaica "mi deh ya seen so link up"

Jala,

Welcome aboard to this FAMILY, hope you enjoy yourself and get help where you need it.

I thought weed was a forbidden word (it is in a sense iin most of the "civilized" world), but maybe not in jamaica, was it Bob Marley talking openly about it, or was it long before him ?  is it culturally accepted ?

'weed' is actually illegal in Jamaica but its as popular as cigarettes, it’s a lot less harmless than them too in fact in the history of the world death tolls from weed are probably 0. Bob Marley our revolutionary musical hero definitely had something to do with the popularity it now enjoys not just in Jamaica but the world over. As for the "civilized" world its legal in Amsterdam (Great country  Smiley).

OK illigeal it is, but are people actually getting caught with it, and going to jail or face a trial ?

I myself think its probably less dangerous than alcohol, definetelly less than tobacco and cigarettes.

Holland, yes great country !! Olaf (one of the resident members of this forum) is from there.

You are right it is less dangerous than alcohol but you will go to jail if caught. The truth is though it is not that strictly enforced in fact home use where it affects no one else is practically legal.

Interesting. I heared - before a lot of years - that it was considered a very "big" crime in Jamaica even if they don't actually caught people for this.
