I just got another server and I got really surprised when I checked the control panel and found 8 CPUs!!!!

Processor #1 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #1 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #1 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #1 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #2 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #2 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #2 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #2 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #3 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #3 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #3 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #3 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #4 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #4 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #4 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #4 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #5 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #5 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #5 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #5 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #6 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #6 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #6 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #6 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #7 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #7 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #7 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #7 cache size: 2048 KB

Processor #8 Vendor: GenuineIntel
Processor #8 Name: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz
Processor #8 speed: 2992.697 MHz
Processor #8 cache size: 2048 KB

Did I really get a server with 8 CPUs? I didn't order 8 CPUs so that's why I'm a little bit confused. If I got 8 CPUs by mistake I don't want to alert the hosting company as long as they bill me for the number of servers I ordered Cheesy

Is there some way to check for CPUs without asking the hosting company?

I guess the CP is wrong, do you checked that info via the command line?

Some cpus work as dual (eg. dual core)

Maybe that is the case with your server, but again you should have 4 processors Smiley

8 cores are becoming more common, its 4 (or 2) actual di's but will appears as 8 CPU as each can act independently from each other.
Many hosting companies are using these style systems and large virtualisation to provide VPS and even shared hosting.

No I didn't. I checked it in WebHosting Manager (the admin part of cPanel).

What are the specs of the server you ordered? They probably listed something like 4 CPU's (dual core)
