Just a quick heads up, as you probably seen the site has been hit by a deluge of spam today it managed to circumvent out pretty stiff anti spam protection as unfortunately it was a genuine human.

We are putting further measures in place to prevent a repeat happening, in the mean time can I ask all of the Webdigity members to be on the look out, Webdigity is a friendly forum and we welcome all new comers and ask our members to treat everyone with respect.

However if new members appear to be showing odd posting patterns, such as only posting in the forum lounge or just a large volume of short messages and you feel a moderator hasn't noticed you can use the report message button located in the bottom right of the threads.

Please do not respond to such messages it makes it harder to remove the messages and again stops the moderators from noticing such messages.

So things to look for;
  • Check the date of threads has the thread been dragged up from the dim past?
  • Does the content seem out of place or short?
  • Do the links in the signature go to an inappropriate website, porn, drugs etc

Then if you feel its an issue proceed to report it to a moderator
Please note; we already know about the user Kira please do not report this user we are already moping up.

Finally if you find a thread locked please don't be offended if you feel it needs unlocking send us a PM I have locked a fair few post in the Forum lounge in an attempt to prevent this occurring again.

Finally I want to take the opportunity to say thanks without you Webdigity would be nothing we as the community need to deal with the issue and I know we will do a great job so well done.

Olaf I don't think this will help, because spammers - or if you prefer "link builders" - don't respect or even read rules.

I will try to create a few modifications that will stop them from spamming, like locking old threads and allowing to post links after X posts.

the link limit is a good one...and maybe the same for links in the signature, spammer notice the link in their sig and think its visible to google too and they keep posting Smiley

Just wanted to remind people to keep their eyes out we got another persistent spammer today who I had to remove Smiley but with Nick away such process become more difficult so spotting them early is essential.
