Im thrilled with the idea of a website which requires almost no work yet grows organically and earns you money at the same time.

I made one such website just for fun and i thought i'd share it with all of you. I call it The Gadget Site. It gets its content feed from Engadget but it doesnt just display the items with links to the source. What it does is make a separate page for each item. So each time the feed is updated, the site automatically generates new pages, thus growing by itself. I was lazy to make it pretty. For demo purposes only.

Here is the link to it: (removed the link. will take the site down)

Think your site from the visitor's point of view.

Why someone should visit a site which has one feed, when he/she can just visit the original site at once?

Nik, this is just a demo so it has one feed only, but you can add as many as you want. think of the possibilities. a site growing by itself. of course, you have to choose the best feeds. one with pictures and lots of paragraphs.

It is a good idea. After all I own a site like that Smiley

Make it indexing feeds for a specific subject, and it may be successful

I thought we called them splogs....
nothing against splogs, but do make sure the content owner gives permission to distribute their content.
Also you will find it very hard to compete with the original owner, to be honest I would find a really tiny niche, find several people who are "sharing" their content but are not promoting and them, and then promote your site like crazy. If you use the right methods you could probably get crawled by the engines quicker then the author and avoid duplicate content penalties. just a thought

The colors are not very coordinated - don't match with each other especially the green and blue.  Go to a any color schemer site like http://www.colr.org/ Visit through proxy and get a scheme to apply to your design
Or better yet go to a site like http://oswd.org Visit through proxy and get a nice design and modify it.

If you had chosen to do a clean css design you could have saved lots of bandwidth for yourself by just doing simple things like td{background-color:...}

If you are serious about web design then you better learn CSS and XHTML

Why is the right navigation menu aligned at the bottom of that right column ? it does not look good.

Sorry if I am being harsh on your design Sad

I guess the site has a purpose on its own, but I feel this one needs a redesign... The basic markup can easily be updated to reflect a better looking site... Since this is a news site, you need to catch the visitors attention first before they start reading... and it only takes 3 seconds to get a web visitors attention...

I know its the Red-Tie Template... but you can choose a better one and Customize it... I can't really articulate whats on my mind, but I imagine something really better for the site...

doing what you suggested turned the text into Times Roman and made it very big so i just changed size="1" into size="2". thanks for the suggestion.
