.com/ or /main.php or /index.php & Gallery 2

Does it matter which of these is used with regards to being indexed, PR (yeah I know=waste), and SEO?

I'm creating an image gallery site using Gallery2 and it uses /main.php for the homepage.

Any thoughts on SEO and Gallery 2 in general? Anyone here using it for a site?

normally the domain is the first page where google will send send some traffic, this because most of the link will point to the domain.

I use coopermine gallery for a site that I use gallery, and I am very sattisfied with the seo. It also has a plugin for seo friendly urls.

Now it is better if your script links internally to domain.com/ instead of domain.com/xxx.php because people will link to your domain as well.

How much of a pain is Coppermine with the URLs?

Gallery has a URL Rewrite module but I've spent 4 days now with it and am still finding a few of those gigantic variable-filled URLs lingering. The search feature is not rewritable via the plugin, only allows a single word to be searched (there's a mod someone has made), and there's ton's of duplicated pages to get rid of.

Is all of that common of gallery software? I love the software and it does do some really cool things, but SEO-wise I'm not all that impressed.

Do you know if Coppermine considers a site commercial if it has Adsense or other ads? I wouldn't be "selling" anything on the site, but I do plan on monetizing it.


If Google has already found main.php and indexed it and it continues to function despite not having any links to it, do you think Google will always keep it in the index or finally update to xxx.com/ ?

The plugin in Coopermine is very easy to install (5 minutes) and you can change the way urls are displayed if you are familiar with php.

Regarding your adsense question I am not sure. I use adsense in my gallery and had no problems

But you should know that Coopermine is the best open source gallery script, but yet it needs some work until you understand how it works.
