I recently got a new hosting server and I realized that I only have one user (unless I pay extra) that can create a few databases ... they did not try to cheat me it was written there all along but I did not notice it ... anyway I believe its a good hosting company for the money .... will see ...

My question is: how would you protect one database from the other if the user that manipulates them is the same ? is there a trick to accomplish such a thing ?

I am afraid there is no trick for that. If one of those sites got hacked, the hacker will be able to manipulate all databases.

The only thing you can do is ask them to remove rights from the user (eg. TRUNCATE, DROP, etc)

Isn't there an option for multiple users?

It doesn't look so expensive for what they offer : http://www.mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/ Visit through proxy

I think they are using clustered hosting, right?

I must say, its a big problem for me not being able to have more than one database user ... but so far their servers work brilliantly ... I have never seen that speed before  (well at least from my previous shared hosts) and the speed is always consistent, check if you want http://www.gamesonline4free.net Visit through proxy ....

Yes they are clustered Nikolas and I went with them because I thought they would be a step above shared hosting (I do not have the money for managed dedicated or the knowledge for unmanaged) ... I have 30 day money back guarantee, so I will let you know in a few days how it goes .... for now I will only put my own sites there (don't want to be screwing with my clients sites) if I like it I will probably upgrade later on and get a dedicated virtual (dv) for $50/month in which I can actually resell ... it has plesk etc ...
