Did anybody notice that all Overture relatetd keyword tools and software don't function anymore? I just went to check on the Overture website, it's gone there too.
One of my most beloved keyword tools has left the scene, after sooo many years of being useful to thousands of webmasters and SEO people. It's gone, vaished from the face of the matrix. I'm frustrated! Gravely frustrated
I was actually expecting that to happen ever since Yahoo copied AdWords, so to speak. But now it really seems to have happened.
Did anybody hear anything that would make me smile again?
So if I press Alt F4... What?

Well I think you are right !!! Lots of times the tools had no response for a few days but they would always come back
but also they had not updated their database with any new data.
I heard the service is still available but only for their paid customers

Yes, but you can still use the free keyword discovery tool or the one at seobook that are both better than the old overture tool IMHO.

Or just use Wordtracker which is better than Overture ever was.

Wordtracker is great! just the tiny fact that they want money after 2 weeks trial is not so nice.

Yes, money is always a concern. I bit the bullet and re-up my subscription with WT every year because I use it all the time. I also use the free tools previously mentioned too as a good cross-reference.

So you're saying WT is worth the money! Doy ou know where WT get's it's clickthrough numbers from? Overture results come from Yahoo and accompanied search engines, Google Keyword Tool results come from Google and Google Network searches, where does WT get the numbers?

WordTracker collects its data from Dogpile and MetaCrawler, a couple smaller meta search engines. - seobook.com

Do they realize that taking it down, even for a short time, will force all the 'heavy' users to go to another service? Then when Yahoo magically brings the tool back with an API (and presumably a price structure) they'll have a much harder fight to migrate people back.

Yahoo doesn't need money! They just waved 50 billion Dollars away, so i don't think they care too much about $. And to say no, to so much doe, they must have some kind of a backup plan. We're up for a surprise again.

I never did quite trust the Overture tool. It gave me some bad numbers that confllicted with all the other keyword tools, plus many times the words were out of order. The good part is that it was better than nothing for a number of years until better free tools came along.
