Apparently it seems that by now about 55% of the webmaster community report heavy losses on their Adsense accouts. So that makes me not feeling so alone. At the other end changes at Google are always subject to slow motion, so it might affect the rest as well over time.
My Adsense earnings and clicks have gone down rapidly over the last days and i'm now down at 50%.

The phenomena seems to go around like a flue. When i surfed through several of my sites this morning i found ads only on the front page. Every second or third page was willing to show ads inside my my sites. For the rest, only empty spaces remained. Checking the source code, all clear. Mysterious things are going on at 'Mother Google' once more.

You're right, smart pricing unfortunately still involves the whole account and not single websites.Google promised to change this in the near future what would be great news and also a big step towards quality assurance for advertisers.
In this case though, i get clicks up to 1.80 and 2.10 on regular bases and have gotten rid of most clicks below 10 cents, i think smart pricing isn't what hits the target.
Smart pricing wouldn't explain the periodically total lack of ads either. And it's not affecting my sites alone since over half of the adsense publishers experience their Adsense earnings decreasing.

Now that you mention it, I have been seeing quite a few sites with 'frames' that have the page not found error in them. I had suspected at the time that they were failed ad displays. I wonder if they were all Adsense.

I have not seen this on my own sites and my earnings are normal. Have you checked if there has been any "official" changes?

I'm busy checking everywhere but the word 'mysterious' comes up far to often for my taste. On some websites it shows the mentioned 'page not found', in my wordpress blogs it shows just empty spaces. Not much i can do. checked my google account and all pages are up and running, nothing blocked. I'll just sit it out a while and see what happens.

Maybe it has something to do with the implementation of the new ads. Did you relize that the clickable area on the Goggle text boxes is smaller now? This is one of the changes that are being applied to minimize accidential clicks. Since most ads by now have changed to the new system, Google can make changes to their ads now system wide. I guess that will take a while and most properbly causes those hick-ups i called the 'Google Flue' earlier.

On the other hand it could well be that the stockholders where not particular satisfied with the last quarterly bill. I' mean the tiny discrepance of 270 million dollars.....  Huh

my adsense earnings seem regular, nothing changed. maybe the earnings went down due to failure to serve ads so your surfers dont have anything to click to.

Vince, there are more people expeiencing the same. And there is a lot of theories about the reason for that. It starts to normalize again now, i hope....
