Hello. I'm not really a web designer, but I play one in real life. Actually I would consider myself a novice designer at best, so I come to here with much need for help. Web Design is pretty much a hobby to me, but one that takes up a great deal of what little free time I have. I have a couple of sites I maintain, but I would really like to do some serious work to them. Hopefully, I'll pick up some good advice from you guys. And with that, I guess I'll see ya' around.
Phil

Hi Phil and welcome to our community
I think you are in the right place because here are many people that got into web business to make their life better. I guess you are for this too, and believe me it is very doable

Thank You, and you are very right. I would love to make my life better and it is very doable. I've been "playing" around with HTML for over 10 years now. But that's all I was doing --playing. And about 2 years ago, I decided to get giggy with my main website (an NFL team related site -I'll get around to putting the link in my sig sooner or later). I did some CSS redesigning and simple SEO tricks and boom...... made about $800 last year in advertising and PPC. May not seem much to some people, but it was terribly encouraging to me. I really think I could be at least be productive at this gig if I would get more aggressive about drumming up work. I am always runnung into people who need a website. But what holds me back is my confidence level. I realize I'm limited in many areas due to a lack of knowledge..... hence my reason for being here. I've been doing some looking around the site. I don't think I'll be dissappointed.

Don't worry, the only thing that matters is how much do you want to achieve your goals. I decided to be a publisher back in 96 where opportunities in web were really huge (it was the time before the dot com boom)
While I had no money for programmers, designers, etc. I became one of them It was hard but I guess it worth every minute I've spent. Of course in our times this is not necessary as the web publishing is not an area for experts, as there are countless of softwares that can help you do whatever you need. In fact in our days content is the only concern of a webmaster.
