Hi everyone,

I am a new webmaster and still pretty much learning alot of stuff around here. I was approaced recently by an online advertising to place a sentecne of text link ads on my webpages. They have offered USD$250 for a year of permenant advertising on 14 of my webpages (home page excluded). Each webpage will show a different ad. Each of this ad has about 4 outgoing links to other sites.

My home page has hit PR3 in 4 mths due to alot of link building work I had done and is still on going. While some of the webpages has hit PR2. I will forsee my homepage hitting a PR4-5 at the next google update at the rate I am building links and content. This would probably cause the PR of the other webpages will increase slightly over the few mths.

Could anyone advise me on whether this is is a good deal or what are the things that i have to take note when dealing with such companies?

Paul

I had such an offer in the past too, from a casino.

The deal looks ok, but have in mind that selling links can harm your SEPRs and pagerank.

Hi Nikolas,

Thanks for the fast reply. The componay is actually http://www.gr-ads.com

Have anyone heard of them before? Their website looks abit scammy. I am really pretty new to this webmaster thingy and would like to seek advise from you guys. Am not really sure what implications there would be if I gave them my paypal account. They do offer check payment though.

I had check the details of the links to the other parties and they are all related links to my guitar website.

This was the email sent to me.

Hey,

I never knew what a guitar chord was before!!! = ]

I would like to buy an ad for $25. on your site for a guitar company.

I would like to place the ad on: ---------link removed--------

Do you have PayPal or would you prefer a check?

  Thanks!!!!!
  Alicia : )

Any further advise?

Sorry but I think $250 for 4 links of varying text for a year or PR3 site sounds too little
but it also depends on
- what sites you link to
- where you place the links
- how many pages your site has
- your site's theme / niche
etc

if you post your URL (or send me by PM)  we might be able to give you more concrete alternatives

Nikolas,
I have sold plenty of links in the last 12 months (in a variety of sites) and its my main source of income (online income) and I have never experienced any downfall in SERPS, google knows and reduced my PageRank but that was my only penalty

The biggest issue is whether or not the links will be to sites that match yours as to topic.

As to money...Am reading your post correctly they want to advertise on 14 of your sites with 4 links on each?

4 x 14 = 56

56 links on the pages of their choice for $250? Doesn't sound like all that good of a deal to me.

It depends on what kind of traffic you have on your website. If you can make more money by placing adsense ads or affiliate links. Why go with this ads company.. It's against google policy to sell links but for a PR3 website you can easily get $10-15 per link per month on homepage.

As long as google can't trace a link scheme you are fine and they can't do anything to you...There are thousands of bigger sites than your that sell links and they do nothing to them...

In fact many webmasters like GiorgosK make enough money from it...This is why pagerank is losing it's old value and Google is turning more to TrustRank...But still buying links can help your website especially in competitive markets and of course can get you some decent money in the progress....

These are some interesting links about paid links if you wanna read about them...

If any of the webmasters things that he should delete them or no follow them please do it

Thanks
