Sometime ago I bought an ebook from someone on Ebay, where he claimed to be making much money from referring people to Amazon, and as a result is paid a commission on their purchases, has anyone here been successful in doing that?

I don't think it works in our days, except for some very specific niches. For example if you have a site for php, selling a good php book via your site may work, but most people when want to buy books know where to go (I mean they don't need your link to go to amazon, everyone knows amazon)

Aamazon has it's own stock, if you know a product that is hard to get and amazon has still them on stock you can make good money (like the Wii before last Xmas)

I have made about $12 in 1 year and I promote the books by doing reviews of everything on my site. Waste of time really, but i guess some one somewhere is making money.

I would love to learn more about promoting goods on a site. WE have a sales 2,0 site launching and need people to excited. If Amazon is a queue I am nervous.
