I've not yet jumped on the Plurk bandwagon. It is similar to Twitter but even as I say that I know there are a few people who will disagree due to certain features of this glorified Instant Messaging system.
I'm concerned that if I sign up for Plurk that it'll consume me and i'll have a wonderful opportunity to once again see all those hot shot marketers get to stroke their egos by having dozens or hundreds of followers.
Do you use Plurk? Vote in the pole above and let us know your opinions, what you like, don't like etc.

GiorgosK,
I don't use it myself yet; haven't given in to the darkside. However from how my co-workers explain it you get to see what posts by users gets the most responses. So for example let's say you get 30 or so plurks in the course of an hour and are busy so didn't look at them all. You can later go back and see how many people responded to those plurks and then pay attention to the ones that everyone else is paying attention too.
They also have a built in search as of this week i'm told and the ability to have multiple friend groups.
I wouldn't be able to tell you much more about it other than it is apparently much better than Twitter.

I don't use plurk myself - I"ve got a few invites to it at some point. I'm kinda slow to put my entire life on the internet. Mabye if I can find enough professional ways to use it, I'll join. My opinion is that not everyone needs to know every little detail about me (or if they really care...) haha

Other than an occasional good resource from it I really think it wastes a lot of time. Sure you get face time with the big names of SEO if you play your cards right but sometimes I swear that if these people didn't have a fan base they'd be nobodies. I don't like the idea of kissing ass to these people as if everything is a popularity contest.
Ultimately I think i'll get out of Internet Marketing / SEO thanks to a few small company launches I am working on. I will still love the industry but I won't care too much if people konw my name.

I can't say anything but forum comments in 144 characters or less. So I don't text.

I don't use it, and I even don't use twitter (ok please don't crusify me for this )
I will agree with aaron that there is no reason to give my whole life to the world as this is something that none really cares
After alll blogs are great to write about your experiences that really matter (and you need more characters to write about them..)

I also don't like the idea of contributing my time or content foolishly. Plurk, Twitter and other similar platforms are all about popularity and who can get the most friends. I remember when the first (and probably not the last) Twitter account was sold on e-bay for $500.00. Great move by the seller but why by it except for the purposes of spamming the hell out of it with your own agenda.
Now I do find value in contributing content and time to a forum. Especially one that isn't so saturated by newbie questions like, "How do I rank well in Google?". Forums are highly interactive and as Tucson Web Design pointed out we aren't limitted to 140 or so characters.
Either way, Plurk may be around for awhile but i'd venture a guess that like Twitter it will run into its hurdles and objective viewpoints such as the ones found in this post.

I've never completely understood the attraction to all these friend-based sites. It seems like it takes the worst parts of high school, cliques and gossip, to become a contest of who can beg, borrow, or steal the most friends.
But then again, I'm the same cynic who missed the opportunity the Internet was going to turn into when I first was involved with it in the early '90s and didn't understand how Adsense could be used to make money on websites when I first heard about it 4 or 5 years ago.

I have other things that are more productive than texting. If texting was profitable I would reconsider.

I'm not so into those friend sites either.

Dont you think that this will encourage competition and it can be take into the shape of unhealthy as well. I do not think that this is a great idea ... this is my personal view it can be wrong.
