Hello all,

I thought it might be interesting to hear from members which classified Ad site sends them the most traffic.

For me it is Gumtree.

Craigslist still provides a good amount of traffic and leads for us.

Absolutely:  Craiglist is a Godsend.  Here's a real example:

Last month I lost a few of my web developers (went back to college), so I put out an ad on Craiglist thinking I wasn't going to get a hit for a day or so (within a 10 mile radius of the office location).  I put out such an ad around 10AM.  By 5:30PM I thought I would check just to see if I got a hit, but wound up getting 12 hits.  Out of the 12 hits, I invited 5 of them to come in for interviews.  24 hours later I had viable replacements already working on refitting some clients' websites.

On a personal note, it's pretty amazing seeing what people want to get rid of.  I picked up a bunch of decent stuff from a storage facility who had spaces that were unpaid (they needed to clear it out for other potential clients) including some 22" CRT monitors, deskchairs, lamps, a large microwave, china, and other nifty trinkets:  All for under 100 bucks total.  All I had to do was rent out a U-Haul for a few hours.  It was a great haul!

I have tried in the past with dismal results, and now the only one I use is Craigslist, but still with not the greatest results.

Craigslist has gotten a lot better now that a phone has to be tied to an account.

Here's my Craigslist story: A friend of mine who now lives in San Francisco recently quit his job as an architect. The work he was hoping to live off didn't transpire, and he was getting worried. He put an ad on Craigslist and got a call that day, and was working on a freelance project soon afterwards.

This is impressive, since he wasn't offering something that is in high demand. And the response was local. (Although Craigslist did start in that city, apparently, so it's probably got a huge number of people there who know about it and use it regularly.)

The beauty of Craigslist is that it has become an international success. Now, if they could only kiss and make up with E-Bay!
