what tools do you use to create web based anmation? i use 3DMLW editor called QuantumHog. it is an opensource community product free and easy to download. To Mods: please do not delete this post as I'm just not trying to advertise anything but would like to know what others are using.

I haven't created any 3d site yet - and to be honest I don't think I'll ever do - but I will check this thread for updates

I'm not a big fan of creating a 3D website because it's hard for spiders to crawl (yes, even with coding underlining it). However, if you create a start page without 3D with the proverbial "enter here" button, you can get away with it more. You can set your robot.txt file and put in main landing page meta tags so when the spider does start to crawl through, it'll look past what you already set in your robot.txt file. As far as easy-to-use programs for the novice , I'd say go for the Site Rubix or 3DMLW. I haven't tried QuantumHog, but I'll keep it in mind if I come across a client that wants their website to look (not necessarily be useful) cool. Cool to me is web 2.0 compliant, but we all know how that ball bounces.

are you talking about sim life type sites or just 3d for the sake of viewing style? If it is the latter, what is the point?

I know I am new here but this may help a few people out as things have changed drastically in the last month. Basically as of the first of July this year the new Google spider does now crawl flash based websites.

Swift3d is very usefully for that purpose. I understand that you want to create some 3d detail for your page, not whole website.

Ideal for onscreen 3D graphics or animations (AVIs or animated GIFs), wherever you need to catch your visitor?s attention - headings and titles, logos and buttons, sales and offer notices. Perfect for web pages, mailshots, newsletters, e-cards and presentations. And any animation can even be saved as a screensaver.
