What Graphics program you use?

I use Illustrator, Photoshop and ImageReady to get most things done.. will dabble and struggle through other new apps up review and recommendations though

In comparison I use 4 regularly but I prefer something from one over the other... Illustrator really good for making vector images, and is preffered by most due to the fact of the vector format, but shape tools and lines on a default PSP(paintshop pro) file is also a vector, and if you do line drawings and vector images then they arent really that different. Photoshop is a powerful tool for image editing, picture correction, and creation of graphics, PDF, site templates and more... Have a bunch of tutorials available, many plugins, and many export functions.

What makes PS stand down is the large footprint and sluggishness of the program. Although PS is considered a standard in the graphics arena, Im using PS CS2.

PSP(paintshop pro) is the poormans photoshop, its cheap and its quite comparable to photoshop, what I really like is the intuitiveness of the software, it is not a copycat of PS but more of a supplement, the latest version I tried is PSP9 which have a good paint tool taht makes available a tool that outputs really a paint-like quality. Theres a mixboard where in you can mix colors just like real paint. The functions here are pretty much heavy too, theres also lens(barrel, fisheye etc.) distortion fix, digital grains and color bleeding fixes. What sets this one up is that its targeted for photo editors, since theres a lot of quick fix buttons and also have a script and operation record like photoshop. The problem with Paintshop Pro now is its originally from Jascs Software, now its acquired by Corel and the new Paintshop is just a clone and nothing more.

Finally I advise that if you still can find a copy of PSP(paintshop pro)7 then get it, its bundled with Animations Shop for Gif and avi animations including making Icons... the advantage of this version is that the basic tools you need are all in there, if you dont need fancy stuff anyways but a barebones design program then PSP7 is the way to go, best of all it has a tiny footprint and is really fast...

need to add that incase anyone argues about paintshop and photoshop vector lines tool is not really vector as opposed to the adobe illustrator vector tool, then this is not the right thread...

I use Photoshop CS and Image Ready. Like what most say it's the best, but Paintshop Pro is just as good, it's mainly what you can afford. I recommend, to save up and get Photoshop as most graphic design and website designers use it. Illustrator is above Photoshop but can be quite complitcated to use for a beginner.

Illustrator is for vectors (you need it for later flash movies) and photoshop for bitmaps.

I think Photoshop is best of all but to have for webdesign

yea, I do agree with you, but I didn't know that flash works better with vector images.

i use photoshop 7 or cs2, illustrator, 3dsmax and sometimes flash..

I use Photoshop only, paint shop pro sometimes. It's simply industry standard I think.

I hate photoshop I really do I tend to use xara xtreme pro for any psuedo vector work and GIMP or fireworks for pure bitmap work, though I have also been using Serif photo plus recently.
