I use Abode Photoshop. It is one of the few programs that I haven't changed to open source yet, and I am thinking to install GIMP for a trial

I use Photoshop too. It is expensive software, but it is the best out there, and I am happy that I am using the license from the company that I work to Smiley

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator, for vector imaging. Haven't tried Fireworks, so is there anyone who can give a review of the program?

Fireworks is great for the job after you do the template. It is usefull for slicing, put the links and create maps. And it produce optimized graphics with the html code

Thanks, but does this mean that Fireworks can open PSD files?

To be honest I am not sure if it can read photoshop files, but you can export the psd to another format, and then put it in fireworks.

I'm probably a little outdated here, but is there another image format that supports layers?

Oops, sorry. Tongue When I said image format, I meant like, jpg, gif, png, etc... That way, I can open my PSD files in Fireworks without losing layers information.

I use photoshop.  It seems to sort of have a monopoly over the graphics industry.  It think I should look into gimp though... how does it compare to photoshop?

It's much more simple. I had an easy time making layouts and stuff. It's a great program for people that can't shell out the money for programs like photoshop.

I use Photoshop CS. I haven't had time to upgrade to CS2 yet.  Is it really worth upgrading to?

I don't think that after Photoshop 6.0 any upgrade is important, at least for web designers

LoL you must be a hero to get to use this program. The good news for you is that the next version of windows will have a very better implementation of paint
