I have launched my forum recently. Now I would like to discuss with you the most effective forum promotion methods! What advices could you provide on forum policy and rules? What restrictions should I apply for a forum at the first stages? Any other advices and recommendations on how to promote a forum effectively are welcome! Thanks in advance!

What kind of forum have you started? Asking in general "what methods to use" wont give you any answers, plus there are already many threads for this here Smiley

The most usual way is to participate in similar niched forums and place the forum on your siggy.

I would suggest you first focus on making the forum lively - perhaps invite friends and family to post or hire some people.  The interactivity in a forum would make or break your success IMO.

You see, being an internet marketer for a long time I know how to attract people to my website! The problem is that not all my visitors become registered users as aresult! What advices would you provide on this matter?

Well no matter how much traffic you can bring to a site, none is going to register in an empty community, because simply an empty community is not a community Smiley

You should find some way to have some activity before starting the promotion of the site. TryUsOut, posted a few. In addition you can also start a contest wich can give some more activity to your forum.

In general and from my experience I think a forum's kickstart is by far the harder thing I ever tried in internet marketing, so I would suggest you not to give up Wink

I think You can set up an rss feed to make posts in a certain part of the forum everytime it updates. You may even want to use a bunch of rss feeds to not only post in a certain forum but to show up on your main portal page using products like vbadvanced(for vbulletin). This can make your mainpage into a news resource.

I want just want to know about the type of your forum. At first stage, you should try to build some threads in it and allow too many users to register on your forum. But keep in mind, try keep away spammers from your forum

Maybe you should attract your visitors by offering them something back for joining the community. It does not need to be 1 million USD but it may be something like: free pdf about how to draw a circle in photoshop Wink or something.

You can host a contest to attract new users to your site. Such a free ad or such?

Participate actively in forums of similar niches and put a signature or a profile link!
