Like I always tell people... "let's see what Google has to say about this." I prefer to get my answers from Google and its employees.

Time visitors spend on website? I wouldn't say that's SEO related, though it would be one of the most important aspects for a website that wants to make money. Smiley

I find it fascinating when I study the site analytics. I study which pages or blog posts hold people's attention the longest and the pages that send them bouncing. Time on your pages is a real good indicator of quality.

The major search engine Google like them all. I just wants to add that the keywords phrases should be used in the anchor text of backlinks.

Suppose you have a furniture store, and have optimised your SEO for "tables" and "chairs". You then find 70% of your visitors spend 80% of their time browsing through your pages about cupboards. Wouldn't you want to change your SEO strategy?

Here are some SEO tips for beginners!

?Do not KEYWORD stuff. Meaning, don?t just cram your keywords within the text and it not make sense. Make sure it has a natural flow.
?Rule of thumb: try to naturally place your keywords or phrases within every 100 words of your copy.
?When establishing your domain name, be sure to include your keywords.
?Put a keyword link back to your homepage in the body.
?Change your ?Home? link to have your keyword in the anchor text, rather than ?Home?. If you can?t within the main menu, include it within the left menu or footer.

Those are useful points too, apart from keywords, which are only used by Yahoo out of the big 3.

Register your domain for 2 to 5 years, not a single year
Avoid purchasing domains with multiple hyphens
Start getting relevant links from highly relevant sites and directories as fast as possible for new and old sites
Watch who you link and do not participate in link exchanges with sites that have related content
Tené a plan prepared to update your site regularly with new content and insert featured content (for example highlighted in the home) regularly. This will increase the activity of search robots and faster updates of your site.
Use Yahoo Site Explorer (beta) to monitor the site to see how many pages are indexed and analyze the links to your site (and your competition)
Wrote quality and original articles and send them to article directories
Do not buy ROS (run of site links) if you want will rank well in Google, especially with a new site. (ROS A link is a link that is placed on each page of a site, like a footer or navigation bar)
Built your links and send them to gradually directories. Mix the link text (anchor) of your inbound links to your 5 or 6 keywords / phrases most important keywords / phrases categories
Standard on page SEO is sufficient (titles with keywords, h1 for headers, static URLs, proper internal linking structure, sitemap, deep content, content of articles focused on the tail and redirecting pagerank search to the category page)
Avoid search engine forums and areas where young and inexperienced beginners throw false rumors
Read the blog of Matt Cutts, threadwatch.org, Pandia, Search Engine Watch, Search Engine Land and other experts for additional information sites
Invest in appropriate professional tools for SEO and avoids the "tools-of-day" to generate spam
Avoid self-powered page at any cost. Leave traces and are a waste of time
Tené a long-term SEO and content. The long-term content, unique and valuable ever defeat spam at the time
