SEO is long term oriented. If you have a site which will live only few months - then use PPC - it will give bring you traffic. But if you want serious business on long term - SEO is what are you looking for.

PPC is very customizable and fast. I recommend using both if you can afford to pay for PPC. Also people seem to forget that PPC is not only Adwords, but Yahoo, MSN and maybe MIVA where clicks are cheaper

Hello,
If you can I would do both because that cant hurt but long term SEO can be much more cost effective.

PPC can be turned on/off in a few seconds and you can target your city alone if you want. This is why is so great

Whenever I have extra cash or have something new to promote I go with PPC, other then that I always focus my time on SEO and looking for new linkage.

If you need instant traffic then PPC is the best choice and if you need long term traffic with cost effectiveness and high ROI then SEO is best.

One thing I will add though is that PPC is great for instant business. This helps when you are launching a new site and waiting to climb up the ranks.

PPC may be expensive, but if used properly can provide a very good ROI. Use very targeted phrases and make sure to track which phrases actually produce sales.
Should balance your time and efforts with both SEO and PPC.
