A good site should be updated daily, like a news site.

For my site i do 3 times per week but I think daily update is better. Change rate in google analysis so how often new content come and change happens with the site. I love to see that is high.

Your website is just like a newspaper for someone ..If you like reading newspaper early morning the same goes for your viewers...they would come back again and again for fresh content

I myself would love to update my website daily, but I don't get ideas easily to write quality content and I don't want to hire ghostwriter, so i try my best to at least make one post a week.

Its depends upon site and type of update. It also depends upon the requirement of website that some websites are updated on daily bases. I like to update my site once in a week.

So it is good to add a forum to your website - it might be useful from the SEO perspective.

As a SEO point of view, the website needs frequent changes but these changes depends upon the nature of site. Some sites needed frequent changes and some sites does not needed so much changes.
