fair enough. Just curious, because you come across as a 'double act', with your one line 'get my post count up' routines.

Social networking is a very fast way to promote your site but one of my best methods is by forum posting and making friends in forum communities.

Social networking is a very fast way to promote your site but one of my best methods is by forum posting and making friends in forum communities.

First off, your site needs some good UNIQUE content, regularly added to.

the fastest method is autoblogging. I know someone who went from nowhere to page 3 of google for search term with 20,000,000 results in less than 6 months just by building a few autoblogs (well, 40 actually). Took him 15 mins per blog to set up, he has no hosting or domain reg costs (he hosts on blogger, free wordpress sites (if which there are a LOT), and every day, they give him 2 or 3 backlinks each.

Page 3 of google for his keywords, btw is VERY lucrative. He expects to get to page 1 this year, and is building more autoblogs.

Next best method - articles. But you HAVE to make each article submission unique.

after that - automated blog commenting. You have to pay for the software but once its up and running, it will start building you backlinks fast. You definitely get what you pay for with blog commenting software.

I would not generalize. Social networking works for some business, but depends a lot on the type what works. I mean, you can't say that you used all those networks in the same time.
For some of them works Facebook, for others Linkedin.
YouTube works for most of them.

And all these should be integrated with other promotion techniques. I've never seen only Facebook bringing a lot of traffic for example. Not saying that it is not possible, but I would like to see some examples.

Hey, guys, no offence
but the the more I learn about the field of SEO the more it feels like public relations and the less it feels like anything to do with machines, algorithms, or search engines. It seems like social media traffic typically lacks value. Most social media traffic is too fast and shallow to build a meaningful relationship from . Rarely are social media visitors worth as much as a penny.
Sure you can drop them at the top of a sales funnel, but then you still have to convert them. And the people who are ahead of the curve with technology are often the hardest to influence via advertising, and are the least receptive of offers unless they hear of them recommended from friends.
If someone recommends us, then I would much rather have those recommendation points at our site from their site rather than through a 3rd party website that might go away at some point. The third party recommendations on social networks tend to be brief/short/limited in context, so they don't carry a lot of weight toward selling something, and those mentions are often people whining about free stuff not being good enough and people recommending to their friends that they just grab a torrent of your work.
