There are two ways of making money blogging, one more profitable than the other. These are the two possibilities: you either get paid for allowing other business owners to advertise on your site or you can include the blog in one of the many affiliate programs you?ll promoting. You can use your blog as part of an affiliate program, which involves promoting the products or services of a specific business. You can increase the profitability of the ads on your blog by taking advertising into consideration when you design you site. One thing I notice about some blogs is that the fonts and colors used for the ads should be only slightly different from the rest of the page, without standing out. why? Because the more visible you make them, the more likely it is that they'll annoy the user, and the entire purpose of your blog is to get people to spend QUALITY TIME on the page.   See ya?ll next week! You have a point there. The more stand out the ads are, the more likely they will be ignored.

there are thousands of blogs making money, its a great way to make money online - get large volumes of traffic then sell to them with relevant and interesting ads.

i bought a football site with 30,000 uniques per month, they were making small money through adsense, i just added betting affiliate banners and the site is flying

So are you trying to tell us that we should use color schemes that are similar to what we have for the website content if we want to maximize profitabilty?

And hundreds of thousands of blogs not making money.

IMO the few blogs that make money are owned by those people with a touch of genius who could make a success of nearly anything.

Some people mention a 3rd way. "Paid to Blog" is where you write original content endorsing a product in return for a fee. (I cannot say more, because I have never tried it.)

I agree with the issue on coloring.  Colors should not attract too much attention or be too subtle to take away attention.  In fact, this subject is so significant to marketing and your results that it is astonishing.  For example, offline companies such as McDonalds use the colors Red, Yellow, and White that clearly attracts children, customers, and hungry people.  If McDonalds were to use Brown, Green, and Neon who would remember the Big Mac Song, and who would be thrilled upon going in the drive thru at 12 at night.  The answer is no one.  Why? Because as children we became accustomed to the bright and attracting colors of McDonalds and as we tasted the food the colors now carried a meaning.  This became like conditioning, and as we grow up we become recurring customers.  This is why colors are so important in Marketing, they can either make or break your business.

Hmm. I agree that blogs would be difficult to make money with, but I do agree that ads that are too wild or annoying are likely to be ignored.

You made a good point. Nowadays, blogs are very well known for making money, but they're not the only method to do this!

I had a blog but did not make money off it. You have to know what you are doing in order to make the money first which I really did not know a lot about back then.
