i want to ask how they help in ranking purposes in google???

To make it short, these bookmarking sites are trusted and are always crawled by google. So, ot givs you a better chance of being seen by google everytime you submit a bookmark. Not to mention that these sites have a lot of members who might also be potential audiences in your site.

they all are social networking site which help them to generate extra traffic from them.

these sites will help u to develop backlinks and ultimately good traffic.

i am agree with andyparker01 that these sites help to get good traffic to our website by creating backlinks.

The bad thing is they are set for nofollow, not good for SEO campaign

Couldn't have phrased it better. I guess the key idea is credibility. Often-crawled sites translates into credibility.

The topic is different. How the social bookmarking sites will help.People generally visit the high PR social bookmarking sites. SO there is every possibility that they will go to your site. And Google also visit these sites frequently.

those site are famous, if you have enough friends on it, i think you can get more traffics.

Twitter ,facebook,linkedin are the best social networking sites and they are very useful in connecting your business with the like minded people.

In social bookmarking people can add their own site link that can be shown by the public and also google can index our pages and it is easy to gain ranking in google.

Most of the big social bookmarking sites use no follow for links, but can potentially drive traffic. Others allow links to follow, and help with SEO. We spend a little time on it, but not much.
