My new website is on page 1 for its keyword after about 4 weeks. It made page 2 after 2 weeks. I added new content and posted links.

Could I have achieved page 1 without links? Is content alone enough?

Posting links gets really boring...

It is very rare to go on page 1 of SERPs without quality links pointing to your site. That would mean that your keyword has no competition so it is probably not so good.

Did that keyword gave you any conversions?

It depends on which keyword you are targeting, if the keyword is too competitive, then ranking with that keyword is difficult. If keyword is less competitive then ranking with that keyword is bit easier.

Content is king but on-page is directly or indirectly interlink with off-page so for quick and effective results you need to create qualified backlinks than you can only see 100% results...

Content on your site and keywords are extremely important but you won't be able to stay on top if you don't use link building. TRying that is a waste of time. I myself tried it for awhile, cause I found it extremely boring, but easysubmits showed me that I can do better if I get backlinks. Slowly my pagerank got better. Now I'm just keeping it up there. If your content is unique and people want to reuse that or link to your site. You get link without linkbuilding efforts. If your content is not really good enough to get the link, you need build back links to get high rank in the search engine for your targeted keywords.

I think both are important.

You can compare content to king and links to queen.

Only a combination of the two aspects can bring a better ranking in SERPs.

I think it is impossible. Backlinks are very important in your ranking.

If you have good content you will get backlinks easily.

Both are important.

I don't think there is any contest between content and links. They are both important, aren't they?

A good site rank is the combined effort of the two. You have to have both quality content and quality links from relevant sites.

SEO requires both on-page and off-page factors for success. The magic formula is daily backlinks and quality content for high rankings.

A quality SEO program must utilize both on page and off-page SEO. Meaning both quality content and daily links must be used to get you the high ranks you wish to achieve.
