java social networking framework

Hi all,

I am looking for free java tool which helps me develop a Facebook-like application. I do not even know what to call that type of framework, maybe java social networking framework?

My researches in google have pointed me to shindig - an apache OpenSocial container. I have also heard of groupglue project which have similar attributes.

On the other hand someone has said: "Social networking is too specific and not reusable enough to be made a framework".

Has anyone tried something like that? Maybe could give some suggestions?
